Trebek hosts the most episodes of a single game show, announcer Johnny Gilbert is the longest-running single game show announcer, and Harry Friedman, producer of the show and Wheel of Fortune from 1997 to 2020, is in the Guinness Book of Records for producing the most game show episodes, respectively. Its sister show is Wheel of Fortune, a TV quiz show also created by Merv Griffin.
Trebek announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on March 6, 2019, but he continued to air and passed away on November 8, 2020. Five years later, on September 10, 1984, it was broadcast again as a syndicated program produced by Sony, and was hosted by Alex Trebek.
